Sam Twiston-Davies

Sam is one of the UK’s leading jump jockeys, with over 1,200 career wins, including victory in the King George VI Chase and Punchestown Gold Cup.

He rides for trainers such as Dr Newland, Nigel Twiston-Davies and on occasion for Paul Nicholls.

Sam is a well-known media personality and is an Ambassador for William Hill.

Biography

Sam Twiston-Davies finishes in the top 5 of the Jump Jockeys’ Championship and has some big race wins to his name.

Having notched up well over 1,000 career wins, Sam continues to be a force at the big jump meetings such as the Cheltenham, Aintree & Punchestown Festivals. He won the Gold Cup at Punchestown in 2021, secured victory in the 2019 King George VI Chase at Kempton, in the Ascot Chase, amongst other big wins.

Sam rides freelance for number one jump jockey for Champion trainer Paul Nicholls, Dr Newland, his father Nigel Twiston-Davies amongst others. He has ridden multiple Grade One winners for the Ditcheat stable on several occasions while continuing to ride The New One for his father. The 27 year-old is quite light, having to reach just 10 stone as a professional jockey.

Top jockey Sam Twiston-Davies won the Favourite From The Sun Now Daily Handicap Chase at Cheltenham on Saturday onboard Broadway Boy, trained by his father and LBM client Nigel Twiston-Davies. The five-year-old had won two of his first three starts since having his attentions switched to the larger obstacles, his only defeat coming at the hands of dual Stayers’ Hurdle hero Flooring Porter at this track in October. There was another big win for LBM client Jonjo O’Neill Jr. to land the John Wyke Memorial Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase on Are U Wise To That.
