The former 20 times Champion jockey AP McCoy has backed the launch of a dedicated mental health helpline for jockeys.
The initiative will bring the horseracing industry into line with cricket, rugby and other sports and will a great help to those dealing with issues out of the saddle. The service for members of the PJA and will be a 24-hours-a-day.
AP said: “The life of a jockey can have many highs, but given the lifestyle – restricted diet, self-employed with no guaranteed income, risk of injury, long hours – it can also be very demanding.”
