Racing legend Sir AP McCoy announced and presented the Team of the Year Award to the Ryder Cup team at the 2025 BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards. AP, who won Sports Personality in 2010 and received the Lifetime Achievement award in 2015, presented the trophy to his good friend Rory McIllroy. Captain Luke Donald had led the Europeans to a first win on American soil since 2012 with a 15-13 triumph in New York. AP also contributed to a video celebrating the career of Thierry Henry.
