Top jockey Sam Twiston-Davies won the Punchestown Gold Cup on board Clan des Obeaux, trained by the Paul Nichols and part- owned by Sir Alex Ferguson. The winning duo saw off top competition from dual Gold Cup winner Al Boum Photo, a previous winner of the race Kemboy and recent Aintree winner Fakir D’oudaries. Sam hasn’t ridden at the Irish Festival sincewinning a Hunter Chase on Baby Run 11 years ago, but after a Cheltenham Festival that saw the Irish dominate, Sam Twiston-Davies headed across the pond with quiet confidence and determination and came away with the biggest trophy of all.
